Hiking in Brevard NC has become a yearly summer and winter tradition in my family. I love forest bathing in the summer, seeing all the beautiful flowers and lush greenery, and then the contrast of seeing the open vistas on mountaintops in the winter, with the frozen waterfalls. Many people skip over Brevard and stay in Asheville, which is amazing in its own right. But we soon discovered a love of Brevard, and fell in love hiking in Brevard. We found Asheville to be pretty far away from some of the coolest hikes in the Pisgah National Forest and Dupont. We didn’t like spending 4+ hours in the car everyday to go on hikes. So we eventually gave Brevard a try and haven’t gone back! Hiking in Brevard NC is just easy, there are so many different hikes, for all ability levels, all within less than an hour of downtown…

The holiday season approaches, can you believe it? It seems like 2020 went by in a crazy blur and at a snail’s pace at the same time. I…
There is something about the fall that always feels like coming home. After spending the past ten years and seven years in Florida, respectively, my sister and I relish our time in the district during autumn. Fall in D.C. is something entrancing. Having spent the majority of our lives in a D.C. suburb, we’re no strangers to fall weather and brightly colored leaves. Fall used to be our favorite season before we journeyed to the land of endless summer. Before we come home, we hold our breath, and fervently hope that the leaves hold on to their color just a little bit longer, enough that we can enjoy all of the magnificent colors during our Thanksgiving holiday. Washington D.C. is one of the those places that seems to be defined by a season. During the fall, the fall foliage highlights the old row homes on Capitol Hill. People spend chilly…

In recent months, thanks to a few TikTok videos, I have had a huge influx of so many awesome women (and some guys) asking me questions about traveling…
Solo female travel changed my life. Traveling alone gave me confidence and compassion among many, many other things. When I went on my first solo trip, I didn’t feel it was anything out of the ordinary, I didn’t feel like a revolutionary. I did so much research and read so many stories written by other women who had traveled solo around the world, it seemed quite commonplace for me to go on a few week backpacking trip across Europe. That was in 2014. In 2020, I still get shocked responses when I tell people that I travel alone. ‘You’re so brave!’ “I could never do something like that!’ ‘Aren’t you scared? Haven’t you ever watched Taken?’ There’s Still a Stigma? In other words, female solo travel isn’t as common as I thought. There is still a stigma surrounding female solo travel, and the stigmas run the gambit: these women are…

When people ask me about traveling, they usually add one or two sentences onto their inquiries: “I would love to travel, but I just don’t have the money,”…
The Long-Term Travel Narrative I was 23 when I began reading travel blogs. And I was enthralled with the stories of people leaving their 9-5 jobs, giving their bosses the bird, and walking into a life of full-time travel and adventure. The narrative that is all too common in the travel blogging world and on social media: Beautiful girl or beautiful boy or beautiful couple or beautiful family quits their job and travels the world full time. You have to travel full time to have a fulfilled life. You have to travel full time to really experience another culture. Traveling full time is the only way to be truly happy. Traveling full time will make you free. It was a dream. A dream to live abroad, to travel full-time, to become a digital nomad in some exotic country outside of the United States. To feel truly happy, like I was…
